I'd read about Tartine's notorious line that snaked around the block so I plotted my arrival for 30 minutes before opening to snag a spot as the second in line. Little did I know that they wouldn't start serving the popular banana cream pie until the afternoon. I opted for my second choice, a butter croissant and left with no regrets. Try one for yourself.
